GTC defeated William S. Reyes Elementary School, 2-0 in the boys’ finals with James Ermitanio scoring both goals at Hopwood Junior High School yesterday.
Ermitanio handed his team a 1-0 lead and fended off WSR to gain a second point in the second half.
GTC is this year’s top team for the boys division, having won six of seven regular season games with one draw.
Competition was just as fierce in the girls’ finals as Diana Manacop scored Oleai’s lone goal to edge Koblerville Elementary School, 1-0 in overtime last Tuesday.
Manacop — 11 years old — earned her team the title on the last minute rally and ended a long struggle that would have led to a penalty shoot-out.
OES went undefeated during regular season.
The top two groups in each division — GTC and WSR for boys and OES and KES for girls — immediately climbed to the finals after drawing the best records this year.
Joining GTC’s Ermitanio were John Bucayo, Bradley Camacho, Jeremiah Cruz, Carlson Cruzat, Nolan Gatharngeg, Jacky Ke, Ronnel Ocanada, John Carlo Prado, Marlouie Santiago, Iverson Santos, Chad Shankweiler, Perry Tenorio, and Jether Yobech with coaches Tawny Barcinas, Erin Mortensen, and Spencer Camacho.
OES, coached by teacher Roxie Lamar, included: De’Jana Muna, Rejoice Celeste, Toni Tana, Isabel Palacios, Leana Ruligat, Viann Wabol, Kitanah Helgan, Samatha Manacop, Ainah Chargualaf, Jolyn Singeo, Shea Bashan, Helena Bautista, Dolores Chantel, Alera Dumagan, Katherine Magat, Cassandra Camacho, and Cardelia Olaitiman.
