BOE’s in-house lawyers Kelly Butcher and George Hasselback conducted the review of charges asserted against Public School System executives on the issue of receiving cash reimbursement in lieu of vacation leave.
After the board’s regular agenda is completed, members will call an executive session to privately discuss the review’s findings and conclusions and formulate an appropriate response.
“An executive session is necessary for discussion among the board because of legal privacy requirements for individuals who may or may not be named in the legal review,” Ada said.
She explained the professionalism and independence with which the review was conducted and expected a thorough, factual and fair assessment of any and all personnel financial actions screened within the review.
“This board understands and embraces transparency and we look forward to addressing this review fully and completely with the public to ensure the continued community’s confidence in our public school system,” she said.
Ada added that the board was prepared to fully address and resolve the issue in order to focus on numerous positive developments within PSS that include rising test scores, a new and highly motivated batch of young educators and possibly, additional federal funds for needed facilities upgrades and teacher and student resources.
