Brand new car sales for November same as last year’s

Based on the report released by the Commonwealth Auto Dealers Association, the island’s three car dealers sold a total of 46 brand new cars last month, exactly the same figure recorded in Nov. 2010.

The vehicles sold last month comprised of 26 sedans, 5 trucks, 3 vans and 12 sport utility vehicles.

Microl Corp. sold the most brand new cars — 23 units claiming 50 percent of the market share, followed by Joeten Motors with 15 units or 32.61 percent of the total market share, and Triple J Motors with 8 units or 17.39 percent of the market.

Toyota is still the top brand, with 23 brand new units sold. Nissan followed with 10, Hyundai 7, Ford 4, and Kia and Mazda with 1 each.

Year to date comparison

The three car dealers have sold a total of 408 new cars from January to November, indicating a 25.14 percent dip compared to the 545 sold during the same period last year.

This year’s brand new vehicles sold included 177 sedans, 80 trucks, 34 vans, 112 sport utility vehicles, and 5 units in the “others” category.

Toyota was the top  brand  in the 11-month period, with 162 units sold. Nissan followed with 61, Hyundai  48, Mazda 46, Ford 40, Kia 34, Honda  10, Suzuki and Chevrolet with 1 unit each sold, and 5 units classified as “others.”

Microl Corp. sold a total of 163 brand new vehicles in the past 11 months, representing 39.35 percent of the market share. Joeten sold 145  or 35.34 percent, and Triple J Motors sold 100 or 24.51 percent.

Last month, the three dealers  sold 21 used cars, with Triple J Motors selling 10, Joeten Motors 6 and Microl Corp. 5.

The three dealers sold a total of 254 used cars from January to November this year.

Microl Corp. sells Toyota and Chevrolet; Joeten Motors distributes Nissan, Ford, Honda, Kia and other brands; while Triple J Motors is the local dealer of Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, Suzuki, Mazda and other brands.
