New dialysis center finally opens

Villagomez, in an email to Variety, said they have completed their exit interview with the Medicare surveyors who have been here over the past three days to inspect the new hemodialysis facility at the Dr. Jose T. Villagomez Building which was completed five years ago.

Esther L. Muna, deputy secretary for hospital administration and financial services administrator, said patients are now receiving their dialysis treatment at the new facility.

Villagomez said Medicare inspectors allowed the local Public Health officials last Monday to start operating the new facility.

Yesterday, he said the federal officials gave them permission to move the entire hemodialysis program to the new facility.

Starting today, Villagomez said  CHC’s old hemodialysis facility will be shut down and all dialysis treatment will take place at the new center.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Sherleen Osman and her team at the hemodialysis unit for spearheading this transfer and ensuring that we provide the best care for our patients on hemodialysis,” Villagomez said.

The new center, which has 38 hemodialysis stations, can accommodate 27 patients at the same time.
