SHEFA Administrator Henry Hofschneider said they have now approved a total of 448 eligible applications which were reviewed by the board’s committee on awards.
He said these scholars will receive a total of $745,500 — $438,000 grant-in-aid, $127,000 field of study, and $180,500 incentives.
Today, Hofschneider said will ask the SHEFA board to approve 36 eligible applications.
He said his office is currently reviewing 15 other applications.
For fall semester 2011, SHEFA has received 808 applications and is projecting to approve 520 eligible applicants, he said.
As of yesterday, however, he said SHEFA had not received any new disbursement from the Department of Finance.
SHEFA needs $272,400 disbursement for 187 eligible applicants.
