Superior Court Judge David A. Wiseman imposed a one-year jail term on Sambile, all suspended except for 72 hours, with credit for 24 hours served at the CNMI Department of Corrections facility.
Sambile will report to Corrections on Nov. 12, 2011 and will be released on Nov. 14, 2011.
She will be placed on one-year probation.
Sambile will pay a $100 fine, a $25 court assessment fee, and a probation fee to be determined by the Adult Probation Office.
During her probationary period, Sambile will abstain from drinking any alcohol. Violation of this condition will lead to revocation, Wiseman ordered.
Sambile will attend alcohol and drug counseling as well as anger management course, if recommended by the Adult Probation Office.
Prior to accepting Sambile’s change of plea, the court reminded the defendant for the second time about the disadvantages and potential danger of not being represented by an attorney.
Sambile “willingly, intelligently, and voluntarily waived her right to be represented by an attorney,” the court noted.
Assistant Attorney General Russel Lorfing represented the government.
As part of the plea agreement, the prosecution moved for the dismissal of other charge of disturbing the peace.
On or July 31, 2011, Sambile assaulted her partner, Traffic Officer Josef P. Deleon Guerrero.
Sambile, a mixed martial arts fighter, was arrested for carrying the police-issued firearm of her partner.
Deleon Guerrero told police Sambile thought there were girls inside a fellow officer’s truck when she approached it while holding the gun.
In 2008, Sambile, then 19, was charged with one count of assault and battery.
Sambile struck and slapped Deleon Guerrero on July 8, 2007, the Attorney General’s Office stated.
Sambile was also charged with one count of criminal mischief for shattering the glass window and causing damage to the headlight and windshield of Deleon Guerrero’s car on the same day, the AGO added.
It was not immediately known how the case was disposed.
