More companies urged to join career fair

Marianas High School teacher/coordinator for the Cooperative Education & Training Program Tyce Mister said among those who have already confirmed their participation are the Northern Marianas Housing Corporation, Marianas Resort & Spa, Hyatt Regency Saipan, Pacific Islands Club, the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, the Division of Employment Services, KSPN2 News, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Mister is urging more companies/organizations to take part in the career fair which will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The Cooperative Program, sometimes referred to as “Co-Op,” is designed to help prepare students for the job market.

“We are looking for businesses with qualified and experienced people to be assigned as a training mentor.  This person will be responsible for the student while the student receives on-the-job training at that particular business,” Mister said.

From Sept. 22 to 30, companies/agencies can make appointments through Mister for MHS students at 237-3248, Chris Tenorio for Kagman High School students at 285-4254 or  directly with the students.

Mister is encouraging businesses to provide incentive pay like stipend, hourly wage, etc., but it is not a requirement for participation. The student will be receiving school credits for their cooperative training internship.

For more information, contact Mister at 237-3248 or email [email protected].
