Police said they were illegal settlers on a state land allocated for the proposed Pacific Marine Industrial Zone.
Settlers claim police used force to destroy their homes and food gardens without much warning.
Provincial Police Cmdr. Anthony Wagambie Junior, told Radio Australia police had to execute a lawful order to allow foreign investors into the marine park.
The government said the proposed Pacific Marine Industrial Zone would create thousands of jobs and boost PNG’s fisheries sector.
Meanwhile, the Accident Investigations Authority says investigations are progressing very well into the tragic plane crash in Madang three weeks ago.
Accident Investigation Commission Chief Executive, David Inau said the two engines of the aircraft that were air lifted from Madang to Port Moresby are at the Air Transport Wing and will be dismantled for assessment.
“We will be breaking down the engines, to see the internal workings of the engine. The investigation is progressing very well, and we are concentrating on maintenance records, pilot records, and also working on the cockpit voice and flight data recording. So we going to look at issues that will lead us to determining the cause of the accident.”
