Cepeda still at the top in 19th Hole 8-ball tourney

Cepeda moved to the top of the winners bracket with wins over Norman Tenorio, Luis Aldan, and Taylor Watanabe. Watanabe bested Ken Phillips and Ben Cepeda before losing to the champion.

Phillips came back through the losers bracket, eliminating Aldan, Ben Cepeda, and Watanabe. He settled for second place after losing to Cepeda.

The Sunday tournament follows a double elimination format with Billiards Congress of America rules. Sign-up starts at 4 p.m. The entry fee is $5.

Thursdays are set aside for 9-ball, with sign-up starting at 7 p.m. There is a $10 entry fee. The single elimination tournament is a race to two wins, but experienced 9-ball players must win additional games — as determined by management — to advance.

Saturdays are for dart players with a blind draw, double elimination tournament starting at 7:30 p.m.

First, second, and third place finishers in all contests take home trophies and split the pot.

The Contests are held at 19th Hole, located in Lower Navy Hill. From Garapan, it is just before the traffic light near Bank of Hawaii, past Grand Market, and before Jane’s Barbecue.
