The mixed martial arts athlete captured two gold medals from both the Gi and No-Gi Absolute BJJ Purple Belt Divisions and one silver from the 82-kilogram weight division under the BJJ Purple Belt level.
“The competition was undoubtingly tough. I stuck to the game plan and did well,” he told Variety.
Manglona returned to Saipan last April to compete in Trench Tech’s The Art of War 6, winning two gold medals from the middleweight and light heavyweight divisions.
He is now scheduled to fight in a ‘Deep Mayhem Fighting’ event in Yeosu City, Korea versus Hee Seung Kim on October 9.
On October 29, Manglona will fly to Guam to face Ryan Biglar in Pacific Xtreme Combat 27. The winner will earn a number one contender spot for PXC’s vacant welterweight title.
“I plan on returning to Trench [Tech] to fight in December, but there’s still more to come when time draws closer. So far I have been keeping busy representing well and I will be looking forward to putting on a show,” he said in an email.
“Training so far has been good. I have very good training partners that push me everyday, I have been eating right, and I’ve been staying positive at all times. I have added CrossFit work outs to my regimen and with doing that I feel a lot stronger than I usually am when engage in training whether it be MMA or BJJ.”
Since beating Guam’s Cody Cruz in a bout last year, the reigning Gorilla Warfare middleweight champion remains undefeated with three MMA wins.
