Empty Vessel Ministry to host fundraiser

Empty Vessel Ministry project director Rose Smith said the Night of Giving will feature music and dance presentations.

Proceeds will go to Kenya “Face of hunger” project.

“Kenya and East African countries are facing hunger due to a prolonged drought. More than 30,000 children have died in three months and 12 million people are facing severe hunger, and children and adults are dying,” Smith said.

“Imagine walking 30 miles in search of food and leaving behind those children who cannot make it to try to save those that can survive,” she added.

Smith said most people in Kenya live on $1 a day but because of the rising prices of commodities they turn to wild deadly fruits or die waiting for help.

“This is my country where some food like bread, rice, soft drinks are luxuries that most people cannot afford. Junk food is foreign word in Kenya because anything that can fill the stomach for survival is okay,” Smith said.

Most people do not know the taste of ice cream, she added.

“Here you can enjoy a slice of cake on special occasions like weddings, Christmas other events or even if there is no event,” Smith said.

“We will appreciate it if you, your  church, organization, your company will come out on Oct. 20 at the street Market to support this night of giving with a $1 or any amount you can share with us,” Smith said.

The churches that have partnered with Empty Vessel Ministry Foundation are Jesus is Lord Church, Life in the Son Christian Fellowship, Cornerstone Christian church, Upper Room Ministry International, Redeem Christian Church of God, Saipan Community Church, AFPS Pastors Band, Grace Christian Ministries, and Thy Word Ministries.
