The league, which was delayed for the second time, was scheduled to include a parade of teams, welcoming remarks from Saipan Mayor Donald Flores, and awarding of Best Muse and Best Uniform in addition starting its first games of the season.
Participating teams will include: IT&E-Konflikt, Ol’ Aces, FGC Construction, R-Rebels, Andoks, Mobil, Northern Marianas College-Proa, and Blue Haus-Satbahi.
This will be the first of the GBL’s three-season series, with the next two coming up in April and October next year.
This year’s champions will go home with a $1,000 cash prize aside from trophies and medals.
Last night, the GBL held a friendly exhibition match featuring local players and members of the visiting USS William C. Fitzgerald, also known as “The Fightin’ Fitz.”
