The exhibit, which is the second of three that the Arts Council holds each year, will feature artwork from 20 local artists.
Arts Council Executive Director Angel S. Hocog said there will be no formal opening ceremony due to lack of time, but the artists and community members are invited to drop in anytime from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday.
Artwork for sale or exhibit includes paintings, photographs, handicrafts, woodcarving products, beadwork, handmade jewelry, traditional arts and more.
The Cultural Heritage and Arts Pacifica Exhibit will run for a whole month and admission is free.
“We are very grateful to the Hyatt management for allowing us to hold the exhibit for free at their hotel which is more accessible to the public for our tourists,” Hocog said.
The Cultural Heritage and Arts Pacifica Exhibit in the past years were usually held at the Arts Council office on Capital Hill which a lot of people describe as “out of the way.”
“With the new venue in Garapan, we hope many people will come and support our local artists,” Hocog said.
There will also be live demonstrations and craft making by available artists throughout the exhibit month.
All proceeds from the sale of artwork will go to the artists.
The Cultural Heritage and Arts Pacifica Exhibit is part of the CNMI-wide celebration of Cultural Heritage Month every September.
The two other major exhibits each year are the Women’s Arts Exhibit in March and the Christmas Crafts Exhibit in December.
The exhibit at the Hyatt will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
