Sablan appeared before Superior Court Judge David A. Wiseman for his probable cause hearing yesterday afternoon.
Sablan turned himself in to Department of Public Safety Crime Stoppers coordinator PO2 Jason Tarkong.
Sablan and Tarkong are fighters with the Trench Tech MMA academy, according to its website.
Sablan was also employed by the Commonwealth Ports Authority’s aircraft rescue and firefighting unit, Variety was told.
Wiseman imposed a $10,000 bail on Sablan after finding probable cause for the continued detention of the defendant on charges of assault and battery, disturbing the peace, and possible kidnapping.
Assistant Attorney General Peter B. Prestley represented the government while the court appointed Assistant Public Defender Matthew Meyer as Sablan’s counsel.
On Aug. 20, at about 1:55 a.m., the Department of Public Safety said it dispatched its personnel to the vicinity of Aquarius Hotel in Chalan Kanoa.
Police said Sablan was following his former girlfriend who was driving her vehicle.
When the vehicle pulled over, Sablan grabbed her and tried to bring her to his vehicle, police said.
The victim managed to escape, but Sablan tried many times to again grab, until the defendant noticed people were already looking at them, and police were arriving already.
Sablan escaped, but days later, he contacted Tarkong and turned himself in to the police officer.
