Fitial ordered the lowering of U.S. and CNMI flags to half staff “in honor of the matriarch of the second family.”
Press Secretary Angel A. Demapan said Mrs. Inos “was called to rest at the age of 63 on Aug. 6, 2011 at 4 a.m., Saipan time, at the Asian Hospital in the Philippines.”
In a statement, the governor said: “Deeply saddened by the passing of Dolores A. Inos, my wife Josie and I, along with the members of my cabinet, join the people of the commonwealth in extending our deepest condolences to Lt. Gov. Eloy S. Inos, his children and the entire family of the late Dolores, fondly known as Ling.”
Fitial added, “I have known the lt. governor and his family for decades. Ling was truly a remarkable woman with a deep appreciation for her husband and children,” he added.
Mrs. Inos had been at the Commonwealth Health Center for weeks before she was transferred to the Asian Hospital.
“She was a loving wife of 40 years, a gentle and caring mother to her six children and a beloved grandmother to her seven grandchildren. She will be missed tremendously,” Fitial said.
Mrs. Inos worked as an accountant for 30 years at the Town House Department Store before she retired to spend time with her grandchildren “and do things she loved dearly, such as stitching, gardening and cooking.”
Demapan said a nightly Mass of intention is being offered at San Vicente church at 6 p.m. immediately followed by the recitation of the Holy Rosary.
Details regarding the funeral arrangements and the arrival of Mrs. Inos’ remains will be announced later.
