Chain stolen from Legislature

Santos said the warehouse behind the legislative building, which was used for legislative staffer parking, was condemned by the Department of Public Works in early 2009.

“Since then, the chain  prevented legislative staffers from parking their cars because the structure was deemed unsafe,” he said.

Santos said the chain was stolen with the use of a bolt cutter.

“It’s theft of government property,” he added.

Legislative Bureau Director Glena P. Reyes reported the incident to the Department of Public Safety yesterday morning.

“We discovered that the chain was missing when an employee reported it this morning,” she said.

Santos, who is stationed in the area, informed her that the chain was last seen on Tuesday.

“The chain was used to prevent vehicles from parking in the warehouse and in front of the warehouse because it would block the parking spots of Senate members,” she added.

She called the theft of the chain “disappointing and unfortunate.”
