Deportable alien arrested for assault

Ongrung, a Palauan, is due to appear in Superior Court for his initial appearance and bail hearing yesterday afternoon.

Judge David Wiseman earlier imposed $6,000 bail on Ongrung for charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, and assault and battery of Jordan Ongklungel.

It was also Wiseman who issued Ongrung’s deportation two years ago for being a deportable alien for his conviction of two or more misdemeanors or one felony.

In his declaration of probable cause, Detective Roque K. Camacho said the Department of Public Safety central dispatched an officer to a reported disturbance at the Mom & Pop store in Dandan at about 8:30 p.m., Saturday.

Ongklungel told police Ongrung hit him with a black baton, punched and kicked at the defendant’s residence in Dandan.

At about 6:30 p.m., police said Ongrung called Ongklungel to go to the defendant’s residence.

The defendant borrowed $10 from the victim to buy “ice.”

The victim waited until 8 p.m., and Ongrung looked angry when the defendant returned home.

Ongklungel asked Ongrung for his share of the money because the defendant’s sold the victim’s car.

The defendant told the victim to be patient because the “supplier” was coming with “ice,” police said.

Ongklungel told Ongrung that he was not there to smoke “ice” and only wanted the money.

According to the police:

• Ongrung got mad and punched the victim;

• Ongrung came from behind holding a black baton, and tried to hit Ongklungel who blocked it with his left hand and wrist;

• Ongrung continued hitting the victim to his head and back causing him to fall to the ground;

• Ongrung also kicked the victim while he was on the ground;

• Ongrung continued kicking the victim despite being yelled by the victim’s wife to stop.

The victim and his wife drove to the Mom & Pop store, where they called for police assistance.
