Talavera tallied 964 pinfalls — 95 more than second ranked Percy Omechelang — to clinch the men’s title for the second time this year. The veteran bowler pulled away with 274 pinfalls in game one and 226 in game two. Talavera averaged 241 pins with scores of 235 and 229 in games two to three.
Omechelang, who bowled on both Saturday and Sunday, drew his best scores from day two at 869 pinfalls and a 217.25 average. He fell below the 200-mark in game one and improved to 234 by game two. Third place finisher Raymond Zapanta wasn’t too far behind at 190 and 209 in games one and two, respectively. Omechelang capped off with 232 and 215 pinfalls to beat his 810 total from Saturday. Zapanta ended with 192 and 177 pinfalls for 768 overall and a 192 average.
Lito Teodoro (737 pinfalls), Ronald Epan (734), and Jae Yong Kim (718) completed the men’s top five.
Like Talavera, Cal also bagged her second monthly title since February with 664 pinfalls. Her closest competition came from Carol McKenzie, who had 638, and Gloria Omechelang’s 628.
Cal started at 163 pinfalls from game one and made her way with 190, 150, and 161 for a 166 average.
Omechelang came close to her second title since winning the roll-off in March. Meanwhile, January winner Yho Villavicencio fell in sixth place at 601 pinfalls.
The women’s pool also included: Elena Soll (612 pinfalls), Mel Regis (602), Diane Chong (556), Gigi Zapanta (545), and Myrna Santos (471).
