NMC’s new president expected today

She is scheduled to meet with the board of regents and NMC employees during a campus assembly.

Hart will likewise meet with students and student leaders.

“She will also be meeting with members of the college’s governance structure, including the college council and the budget and finance committee.

She will also be meeting with CNMI leaders, including the governor and lt. governor, Senate and House leaders, Congressman Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan and others,” NMC said.

NMC said Hart will meet with members of the NMC Foundation, the NMC Alumni, the Saipan Chamber of Commerce, the Saipan Rotary Club and key partners like the Public School System.

Lorraine T. Cabrera, who served as the college’s interim president, returned to her post as director for the Adult Basic Education program last week.

Barbara Merfalen, NMC’s dean of academic programs and services, has been appointed as acting president until Hart’s arrival.

In a message to the campus community last week, Cabrera stated: “I wanted to take the time to thank each and every one of you for all your hard work.”

“Be very proud.  I want to also thank you for allowing me to serve you, the students, and our institution this past year and a half.  I will take with me valuable experiences as well as great memories,” she said.

Cabrera urged members of the NMC community to extend their warmest welcome to Hart.
