The band, led by its conductor and music director William DeWitt, was the overall winner in the recently held Tumon Bay Music Festival on Guam.
The resolution was presented to the band during the school’s Parent- Teacher Association meeting.
House Resolution 17-44 states that the Manta Ray Band is the only high school musical program in the CNMI.
“Despite the nominal resources… the Manta Ray Band’s outstanding performances have been recognized throughout the Marianas and worldwide,” the resolution stated.
DeWitt and the members of the band received the commemorative resolution.
DeWitt said they just want to entertain the people and to make the CNMI proud.
Cabrera promised to make more copies of the commemorative resolution for each member of the band.
He also assured the group he will try to find funds for their travel when the band heads to London next year to play in the Olympics.
