He said parents and community members should support the program.
“It is a good program. It will help protect not only schools but our neighbors,” he told Variety.
Saipan and Northern Islands Municipal Council Chairman Ramon B. Camacho talked about the task force during the recent Parent Teacher Association meeting at Saipan Southern High School.
Camacho emphasized the role of parents and community members in maintaining peace and order in their villages.
The growing number of crimes island is a challenge that community members should help address, he added.
He said the cooperation and good relationship among neighbors will help deter the commission of crimes.
Guerrero said children should be taught not to steal.
If every resident is vigilant, the community will be a lot safer, he added.
Camacho urged PTA members to join the task force and intensify the presence of volunteers in every village.
He said volunteers undergo training such as on CPR.
The task force is also conducting a village revitalization program, which focused on the beautification of surroundings, he said.
The program, he added, will discourage criminals from making abandoned houses or overgrown vegetation as their hiding places.
“We want to beautify our place, free from diseases, insects and criminals,” he said.
Camacho said he has been receiving reports about illegal dumping in Koblerville and Kagman.
He said he already asked the concerned government agencies to set up a temporary transfer station in those areas.
