USS Cowpens, USS Cheyenne here for R&R

The Saipan Chamber of Commerce welcomed the USS Cowpens crewmembers with a brief ceremony at the Taste of the Marianas Food & Beer Garden Festival at American Memorial Park on Saturday evening.

Associate Judge David A. Wiseman led the exchange of caps ceremony.

“We are continuously working to make the CNMI as a preferred destination for Morale, Welfare, and Recreation in the Asia-Pacific Region,” chamber president Doug Brennan said.

Pacific Eagle Inc. vice president Aya Matsumoto gave the officers a bouquet of flowers to welcome them. USS Cowpens leaves Saipan this morning.

USS Cheyenne, a Los Angeles-class submarine, arrived on Saturday morning with over 150 crewmembers.

Crewmembers of USS Cheyenne will be joining the Memorial Day activities at the Veterans Cemetery this morning.

Home-ported in Hawaii, USS Cheyenne will be departing on Thursday morning.
