He also approved local bills that appropriate $27,000 in gambling revenues for Rota residents and projects and $64,000 for Tinian scholarships.
House Bill 17-108, now Public Law 17-37, was introduced by Rep. Teresita A. Santos, Ind.-Rota. It requires the Department of Public Lands to waive the requirement of completing a single family residential house within two years from issuance of the homestead permit if the homesteader has invested a minimum of $10,000 on the lot.
Also introduced by Santos, House Local Bill 17-36, is now Rota Local Law 17-12. It appropriates $27,000 in poker and pachinko slot machines fees for 13 dialysis and terminally ill patients; the municipal scholarship foundation; the freight charges for shipping tax documents to Saipan; advertisements on Rota Channel 5; and the operations of the Rota Municipal Council.
Rep. Trenton B. Conner, R-Tinian, introduced House Local Bill 17-42, now Tinian Local Law 17-6, which appropriates $64,000 in poker and slot machine fees for the island’s municipal scholarship program.
