SML Summer-Fall Youth Baseball League

The Saipan Major League would like to inform the public that the Summer/Fall Youth Baseball League is tentatively scheduled to start in the latter part of June or early July of this year.

The summer/fall league is a developmental program aimed at teaching the fundamentals of baseball to players 14 to 18 years old. It will prepare them for transition into a higher level of competition and possible enrollment in the various junior colleges in the mainland which offers baseball.

All games will be played in seven innings. Because it’s a developmental program, wooden bats will be used for the duration of the league. If weather permits, each team is guaranteed to play twenty or more games exclusive of the playoffs. This format however, will require pitchers to pitch not more than four innings to prevent injuries. So far, six teams expressed interest to register for the league.

To ensure that program participants are well prepared and ready for opening day, the Saipan Major League will conduct a baseball camp two weeks prior to this date and is inviting interested players to take advantage of this free clinic.

Details on entry fees, roster limits, waiver and consent forms, and registration date will be released soon.

For more information, contact SML coordinator Tony Rogolifoi at 288-3515.
