NMC Foundation president Vicente “Ben” Babauta confirmed to the Variety that “exciting” prizes await winners and participants.
“Currently, the NMC Foundation is confirming other large and exciting prizes. Last year’s tournament prizes were valued at over $100,000 and it looks forward to the same for this year,” Babauta told Variety.
First place finisher for each flight will receive $500 and a round trip airfare ticket to anywhere Continental flies in Asia and Micronesia. Second place finisher for each flight will receive $300 and third place finisher for each flight will take home $200.
Along with the major prizes allotted for first, second and third place hole-in-one prizes are also up for grabs.
The hole-in-one prizes for Hole No.3 are two business class tickets to the U.S. courtesy of Delta Air Lines and For Hole No.13 the prize is $25,000 from AON Insurance. For Hole No.17 it is a 2011 Hyundai Tucson GL donated by Triple J Motors.
The Variety learned that registrations are still ongoing and anyone interested in playing can download a registration form at www.nmcnet.edu or call 234-5498 extension 1050.
“Registration forms are also available at the NMC Cashier’s Office, Saipan Laolao Bay Golf & Resort, or Triple J Motors. Since the tournament is still three weeks away, that leaves a lot of time for those interested to sign up. The fee is $95 per person,” said Babauta.
A total of 150 golfers joined in last year’s tournament.
The NMC received so much support from other golf organizations and sponsors.
Babauta said, “The Northern Marianas College Foundation greatly appreciates the support received from the various businesses and organizations who believe in helping to provide expanded educational opportunities for the people in the CNMI.”
“And we are inviting everyone to play no matter the skill level. The purpose is to have a great time golfing for a good cause,” he added.
The tournament will have a show time of 6 a.m. and a shotgun start at 7 a.m.
The tournament will follow a medal play format with six flight categories composed of the championship flight, A, B, C, ladies flight, and seniors flight.
