Martin Sakisat who held his position on a provisional appointment told Variety yesterday that his 90-day contract expired last Friday.
He submitted an application to keep the job, but he was told that Tinian Mayor Ramon M. Dela Cruz was considering former revenue officer Admanita Lizama for the position.
Lizama retired as Tinian revenue officer last year and had to wait for six months in order to get hired again.
It was during the last three months of that period when Sakisat got his provisional appointment.
“I re-applied but I got calls advising me that if I am not selected and that I should understand that the decision comes from the elected leaders of Tinian,” Sakisat said, adding that he knew already what that means.
Sakisat believes the mayor’s decision has something to do with the shutdown of the scooter shop and concession trailer of Keo Song Marine World Corp. late last month.
He said he was merely following the order of then-Finance Resident Director Gabriel Evangelista, who was later told to resign by the mayor’s office.
Keo Song Marine accused Sakisat and Evangelista of “harassment.”
