NMC Foundation president Vicente Babauta said they really appreciate the generosity of the donors. “This means a lot to our efforts to continue our programs for the college,” he added.
Yesterday, Jose C. Ayuyu, McDonald’s Saipan owner, donated $5,000 to the NMC Foundation.
“This is our continuing effort to help the schools throughout the CNMI,” he said, adding that McDonald’s has been supporting schools every year.
Ayuyu encouraged others to donate to the NMC Foundation if they have extra funds, saying a lot of families are struggling to send their children to college.
The donations are for the 9th Annual Northern Marianas College Foundation Open Golf Tournament on April 30 at Laolao Bay Golf Resort.
The NMC Foundation is supporting the advancement of the college’s educational programs and services.
Babauta said the donations will fund scholarship programs, which he described as a good return of investment as they prepare students for the local workforce.
This year, the NMC Foundation aims to collect $60,000, he added.
The foundation was able to collect $90,000 in 2010, but they decided to make this year’s goal more achievable because of the CNMI’s economic challenges, Babauta said.
