NMI marks Earth Day in May

In addition, the Energy Division staff will be on Tinian on May 9-10 in the mayor’s conference room and on Rota on May 12-13 at the mayor’s office.  The events for Tinian and Rota will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Energy Division, through its energy education, efficiency and conservation efforts, will be distributing reusable shopping bags with Home Energy Savings Kits as part of the Earth Day celebration.

This is made possible through a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy, State Energy Program, American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

The cornerstone of this campaign is “Awareness is Good, Action is Better — Act Now.”

Thelma B. Inos, director of the Energy Division, encourages everyone to take action today for a greener future.  By taking small steps, we can make a big difference to help reduce the effects of global warming with more energy-efficient choices at home and at work.

This promotion is available to all residential paying customers of the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. and therefore, must provide a copy of their CUC utility bill to receive the free items.

For questions or information regarding the Energy Awareness Event you may contact the Energy Division at 664-4480/1.
