The presentation included a definition of TIP, its various forms and venues, TIP as a global multi-dimensional threat, and U.S. Department of State efforts to combat TIP.
The Women’s Health Week presentation on human trafficking materialized following a pilot presentation by Embassy Economic/Consular Officer David Reynolds to public and private sector women representatives on May 5. As part of an ongoing effort to empower women in the F.S.M., the discussion focused on TIP awareness, and also included a briefing on upcoming training opportunities through the Secretariat of the Pacific Community Human Development Program.
In the annual U.S. Department of State TIP Report, 175 countries and territories are ranked based on various standards, including government prohibition and punishment of trafficking, data-supported law enforcement efforts, victim protection, TIP prevention and anti-corruption efforts.
