Filipino group to induct new officers on Saturday

The induction ceremony will start at 7 p.m. in the hotel’s Taga Hall.

Philippine Consul General Medardo Macaraig is the inducting officer for the new UFO officials who will serve until Dec. 2012.

They are president Bong Malasarte of MDX Radio Club, vice president for administration Hector Sevilla of the Marianas Association of Filipino Engineers and Architects, vice president for internal affairs Paul Madriaga of Namfrel; vice president for external affairs Bok Enano of Bayani, secretary Jun Liberato of MAFEA; assistant secretary Yoly de Ramos of Bayani, treasurer Evelyn Deazeta of Bayani, assistant treasurer Lyn Dela Cruz of CNMI Power, auditor Tony Soriano of Samahang Ilocano at Pangasinense, and  public information officers Charlie Centina of Visayas Mindanao Association, James Galvez of CNMI Power and Joel Dupra of Bayani.

The board of directors is composed of all the presidents of the different Filipino associations under UFO.

Active Filipino associations that are not yet part of the organization are invited to join the “wagon of unity under the leadership of Bong Malasarte.”

In an interview, Malasarte said  they have 30 member-groups and are expecting more to join this year.

He said they are now soliciting sponsors for the induction souvenir book which will also raise funds for their upcoming projects.

They will solicit door prizes for the raffle drawing to raise funds for the Japan earthquake and tsunami victims.

Raffle ticket is $5 each and includes a free Coca-Cola product and a chance to win door prizes during the program.

UFO said their friends and supporters are invited to the event.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. and dinner will cost $20.

Malasarte said the proceeds of the fund drive will be turned over directly to the Japanese Society in the NMI.

Filipino attire is required for all the officers, outgoing and incoming, including members of the board of directors and advisers. While guests and visitors are requested to wear formal attire.
