Originally slated for April 6th, 2011 the league has been revamped because of the renovation of the Gilbert C. Ada gymnasium.
“Ada Gym is under renovation for 6 months, which is a good sign for all organizations [who will be utilizing] the facility to ensure the safety of all players,” said MBFNMI chair Ray Lizama.
This season will be different from the other league brigaded by MBFNMI. “Membership fee for 2011 will not be required for players anymore due to the economic slump. The entrance fee is still set at $550.00 with the uniform but top jerseys only; the design and print will be made by Island Apparel, Inc. Teams are urged to continue in seeking sponsorship,” added Lizama.
Teams who pay their fee will be given preference of available colors however there will be no reservations allowed on uniform colors. The Variety learned that so far Island Apparel is offering a total of 17 colors to choose from.

”13 teams and counting [have shown interest in the league],” said Lizama in an interview with the Marianas Variety.
When asked who the best statistics in the league Lizama replied, “[Last year’s] Champions, team IT&E, are [shooting for] another perfect record in this up coming season. Tony Diaz’s 51 point record in a single game is up for any challenge. All Historical Records are up for grabs as well.”
In other news a 50A division is still on the desk for further consideration. Board members have yet to decide whether or not the division will pull through; a decision will be made after the numbers of teams who are interested show up at the meetings.
MBFNMI currently has over 350 registered members and counting. The MBFNMI league incorporates unique rules during its games. One unique rule is that all players must play in all quarters. If a team violates this rule they are subjected to a violation and a bench technical foul.
