By sponsoring a candidate, private entities can get a certain percentage of the proceeds from the sale of tickets, committee chairwoman Vinycia Seman said.
Sponsors will also be officially acknowledged in the Liberation Day advertisement and program.
“It is also a sign of goodwill and sort of a promotion of their company,” Seman said.
As of yesterday, she said they had three potential candidates only although many application forms were distributed to schools and villages.
She cited the bad economy as one of the reasons why not a lot of young women are joining the pageant.
Seman said those interested can still submit their applications today, May 13.
Applications are available at the mayor’s office at the Afetna Square Building in San Antonio during working hours.
The Liberation queen and royal princess will have a chance to travel with the mayor abroad on goodwill visits to the island’s sister-cities.
