Fitial OKs $40K for Rota, $19K for artifacts

Fitial signed Rota Local Bill 17-43 which appropriates $40,500 in poker and pachinko slot machine license fees for local programs and services on Rota.

It is now Rota Local Law 17-13.

Introduced by Rep. Teresita A. Santos, Ind.-Rota, the local bill appropriates $11,700 to 15 dialysis and terminally ill patients; $10,000 for the renovation and purchase of beds, air-conditioning units, refrigerator for the Rota Liaison Guest House; $2,250 for the Rota Municipal Scholarship Foundation; $2,250 to pay  government employees still waiting for their retroactive pay as mandated by a 1991 law, P.L. 7-31; $9,300 for the operations of the Rota Mayor’s Office; and $5,000 for the CNMI Little League District Tournament.

Fitial also signed into law House Bill 17-167 which allots $19,124 from the Saipan Trust Fund to help the NMI Museum of History and Culture preserve artifacts.

The bill, now Public Law 17-42, was introduced by Rep. Ramon A. Tebuteb, R-Saipan.
