Saipan Rotary Club vocational services director Jeff Boyer yesterday said they have already sent letters to all the schools, including those on Tinian and Rota.
“We are still waiting for their replies to confirm but we are hoping for more participation this year,” Boyer said.
The participating schools include Oleai Elementary School, GTC Elementary School, Green Meadow School, San Vicente Elementary School, Koblerville Elementary School, Garapan Elementary School and Kagman Elementary School.
Boyer said the grand prize is still $1,000.
“What’s different from this year is that the competition will get tougher and better,” he said.
For the past years, three schools — San Vicente, Oleai and Garapan — have been the top contenders.
“We hope to see more participation from the private schools and the day care centers this year,” Boyer said.
During the Parade of Books, participating schools interpret their favorite stories from books in a creative performance complete with colorful costumes.
The event aims to raise awareness and interest in literacy and reading among schools.
