The group, composed of 120 make-up artists and hairstylists from five different districts in Tokyo, held their finale night at the poolside of the Hafa Adai Beach Hotel in Garapan where they were billeted on Thursday night.
Event organizer Yoshimoto Takahito told Variety that the group, called HairMake U.R., has been holding the annual contest since 1998, but this year is their sixth on Saipan.
Takahito said after they tried holding the annual event here, they liked it and decided to keep coming back.
“The place is very beautiful and we enjoy our stay here,” he said.
The different district representatives made various presentations and on-the-spot hair and makeup contests where the audience also acted as the judges.
The group, most of whom sported the latest trends in fashion, hairstyle and make-up in Tokyo feasted on a hearty dinner from Hafa Adai Hotel’s kitchens including the freshest seafood, an abundance of island favorites, locally grown fruits and vegetables, and bottomless beer which set everybody in a party mood.
The make-up artists and hair dressers, all from Harajuku, Omotesando, Ginza and Aoyama districts arrived on Saipan on Feb. 28 and left on Saturday. The group’s president is Kawashima Etsumi.
The group visited the different bars and establishments in Garapan after the party.

Hafa Adai Beach Hotel executive chef Samson Tan said they prepared a mix of island favorites and Japanese food for the group to entice them to come back next year.
