The Kids Cup is a co-ed event that includes 14-and-under and 17U divisions. Each team may have up to five players, with at least one female on the court at all times.
An estimated 90 players took part in last year’s competition, according to organizer Mili Saiki. Students seeking to join may get entry forms from their respective teachers or coaches. Completed forms may be dropped off at Saipan International School.
“We would like to have more than 100 players. See many new faces trying, and also an improvement on the level of the game. The future is bringing great possibilities for all players, they just need to try,” Saiki told Marianas Variety in an email.
The Kids Cup will start with pool play, followed by double elimination games. Team members may play fixed positions but must rotate on serves. An entry fee of $10 ($5 for Northern Marianas Islands Volleyball Association members) includes a t-shirt and sponsored drinks. Participants must register no later than 3 p.m. today.
Check-in starts 8 a.m. and games launch 9 a.m.
