Mt. Carmel students perform community services

The group of former Rep. Rosiky F. Camacho, homeroom teacher of the junior students, conducted a cleanup drive in Susupe.

At least 23 students participated in cleaning the Civic Center and its surroundings from the Minachom Atdao pavilion to the Saipan World Resort.

Camacho said they started the cleanup at 8:30 a.m.

“It is very timely that we took out the trash left during the weekend activities in the area,” he said.

Classroom president Seyoun Yim said they were happy to do the cleanup for the community.

The senior class students, for their part, participated in the story-telling activity at the Sister Remedios Early Childhood Development Center, a sister school of Mt. Carmel.

Camacho said the sophomore students were assigned to the Mt. Carmel Cathedral for a cleanup while the freshmen performed a similar activity in the Sugar Dock area.

He said the junior class members also helped in the inventory of books and the cleanup at the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library.

The Catholic Schools Week started on Sunday.

This year’s theme is “Catholic Schools: A+ for America.”
