Although Sayed-Khaiyum could not reveal any other information about the businesses, he said there have been a number of casino entrepreneurs that have shown their interest.
“We will provide more information on the issue in due time,” Sayed-Khaiyum added.
Late last year, the government tendered an Expression of Interest, or EOI, for the development of its first ever casino.
The EOI stated that the government will formulate a regulatory framework to govern casino operations in Fiji.
The framework will be in accordance with international best practice in casino operations and management and will also inter alia take into account socio-economic conditions and the Fiji brand.
