Ol’ Aces fall to Fielders, 3-1

The Fielders won 3-1, allowing their foes to score at the bottom of the fourth inning. They took an early lead at the top of the second, with left fielder Anthony Tenorio hitting a double. He stole to third base and slipped to home plate on an error.

Ol’ Aces’ short stop Shane Yamada tied the game by the bottom of the fourth. He rallied to second base and stole to the scoring position to make his first and last run of the night.

Neither teams advanced at the fifth and sixth innings.

The Fielders landed their winning runs from right fielder Shane Mendiola and Elijah Aughenbaugh. Mendiola hit a single, stole to third base, and was driven home by Agustine Hocog’s sacrifice bat. Aughenbaugh also struck a single, stole to second, and reached the scoring position before being sent home by Juan Maratita’s single.

CJ Castro – who reached the third base on two wild pitches – nearly pulled a run for the Aces. John Aguon struck out however, drawing the third out and ending the eighth inning.

The Fielders secured the game with a double play on Yamada and Jack Lizama and a strike out on Niko Martin.

Fielders’ pitcher Elton Santos tallied 15 strike outs, allowed five hits, and walked two. Both Mendiola and Tenorio went 1-for-4 with one run apiece. Aughenbaugh went 2-for-2 with one run, one single, and one triple.

The Brewers and D-9ers are scheduled to play tomorrow. The St. Michaels’ Angels and Ol’ Aces will face on Friday.
