DoReMi’s lone delegate, Alan Yang Tudela, fifth grader of San Vicente Elementary School, bested more than 50 young musicians from different schools on Guam.
“I play with love and play with my heart,” Tudela said.
His rendition of Mozart’s Concerto No. 5, greatly amazed the audience and the judges in the elementary division, said Ao Zhang, DoReMi Music School president and music director.
Zhen Yu Su, an 8th grader from Grace Christian Academy, was the Young Artists Competition champion in 2010.
During this year’s event, Tudela was accompanied on the piano by Ji Hae Yeom. Tudela will perform during the award concert night slated for Feb. 26 on Guam.
Tudela’s mother Hua Yang said her son started playing the violin when he was 4, adding that his music is always dedicated to his father, Alejandro C. Tudela, who passed away.
The 10-year-old is the only son of the Tudela couple.
Zhang said young Tudela has a potential to become a successful musician.
He said the boy has the confidence and patience to pursue a musical career.
