Independent Rep. Teresita A. Santos said all the patients at the Rota Health Center were relocated to the Aging Center in Sinapalo, which served as the disaster command center.
The center was under the command of the Rota mayor’s office in close coordination with the Department of Public Safety, the Emergency management Office, the health center and other emergency response agencies, she said.
Santos said most residents bought food supplies and gasoline.
“But there was no panic buying,” she added.
Santos said residents were advised to go home at about 11 p.m. after an all-clear notice was announced by acting Gov. Eloy Inos.
Yesterday, Santos sent a message of condolence and sympathy to the emperor and the people of Japan.
She sent her message through Kiyo-kazu Onishi, president of the Kiyokazu Fitness Club and the prime mover and coordinator of the annual Rota Blue Triathlon and CNMI Triathlon.
“No amount of words can express our heartfelt sympathy and sorrow about the disastrous effects of the massive earthquake followed by a killer tsunami that has literally devastated Japan and her precious people,” she said.
“The people of Rota and its leaders will keep you all in fervent prayer as Japan and its people weather out the severe destruction left behind by the earthquake and tsunami. In closing, we stand steadfast to render any assistance to you, your family, relatives, friends and the people of Japan during this difficult time.”
