Fitial needs more physical therapy

“My back is ‘back,’ ” said Fitial in an interview during the fund drive for Japan at the Paseo de Marianas on Thursday. He said his doctor advised him to undergo physical therapy at least three times a week.

Fitial, who was on a weeklong medical trip following his official visit to Washington D.C., returned on island last week.

He said he is in considerably better shape now.

Due to back pains, the 65-year-old governor had to see his physician, Dr. Dr. Jeffrey Wang of UCLA Medical Center. Fitial wanted to know whether he needed another surgery to correct his spine problem.

But the medication and initial physical therapy that Wang gave Fitial were able to decompress his inflamed and tight lumbar Nos. 4 and  5.

The governor said he had a very serious arthritis that was eating up the tissues inside his spine.

Because of the medication he received at UCLA Medical Center, Fitial said his back pain has “somehow diminished.”

According to the governor, he is again ready to serve the people of the commonwealth.
