Despite economic downturn, businesses still support Aging Center

On Tuesday, Kingfisher Golf Links handed over a check worth $823.70 to Aging Center Director Rose Mondala.

Since 1999, Kingfisher has been giving annual donations to the Aging Center and the total amount of its assistance has already reached $10,011.96.

“This is our continued commitment to show how much we appreciate your support for our business,” said Naotsugu Suzuki, Kingfisher Golf Links general manager.

Suzuki said their business continues to suffer due to the declining economy but this has not stopped them from supporting the manamko’.

“Despite these tough times, we will continue to support your program,” he told Mondala.

Mondala said many other businesses have participated in the fundraising drive of the manamko’

She thanked Kingfisher for its continued support.

Although its donation is smaller compared to previous years, “it is still big considering that we are in an economic crisis,” she said.

Mondala turned over the check to Teresita Sorroza, Senior Citizen Advisory Council president.

“Kingfisher Golf Links is one of the few donors who regularly support the manamko’ out of the goodness of their hearts,” Sorroza said.

She said the council is very thankful for the consistent support of all their donors.

All donations will be used to fund various projects at the center, she added.
