Saipan-born soldier named new garrison CSM in Washington

SAIPAN-BORN Ronald DLG Hansen has assumed responsibility as the new Joint Base Lewis-McChord Garrison command sergeant major in Washington State.

The son of the late Ronald L. Hansen and Mariana Deleon Guerrero Hansen of Chalan Kanoa, CSM Hansen enlisted in the U.S. Army in February 2001 and attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Georgia, graduating as an infantryman.

His older siblings are Juanette DLG Sablan, wife of Rep. John Paul Palacios Sablan, and retired CSM Amanda H. Judd.

CSM Hansen has served in multiple developmental leadership positions during 24 years of Army service. His past duty assignments include team leader, squad leader, section sergeant, platoon sergeant, instructor/writer, observer controller/trainer, first sergeant, master leader, and course manager.

His previous assignments include 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade; 2nd Infantry Division, JBLM, Washington; 4th Ranger Training Battalion, Fort Benning, Georgia; 4th Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, Fort Bliss, Texas; 2-357 Infantry Battalion, 5th SFAB; and the NCO Leadership Center of Excellence.

His most recent duty assignment was with 2nd Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment, Fort Cavazos, Texas. He completed three combat deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Correction: The headline of this story has been updated to clarify that CSM Ronald DLG Hansen was named the new garrison command sergeant major at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington, not that he “took command” of the installation.
