THE basketball community got a major boost with a $2,000 donation from Vega Environmental, LLC to the Northern Mariana Islands Basketball Federation. The funds are earmarked for the upcoming Vega Environmental 3X3 Tournament, presented by the NMIBF.
The official check presentation brought together representatives from both organizations. Vega Environmental owners Evert Van Der Maas and Jasper Van Der Maas presented a check to NMIBF directors Marlene Lumabi, Sylvina Simram, and Rachel Langu. The donation underscores Vega Environmental’s commitment to supporting community events and local sports development.
The 3X3 format, a fast-paced and exciting variation of traditional basketball, is set to energize the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium on Oct. 20, 22, 24, 27, and 29.
The competition will feature three divisions: Men’s Open, Women’s Open, and U18 Boys, offering a wide range of opportunities for athletes.
Teams interested in participating are required to pay an entrance fee of $60 per team. Spots are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, encouraging quick registration.
For more information, interested parties can email nmibasketballfederation@gmail.com/.
Vega Environmental’s generous contribution ensures that the NMIBF has the resources to host a successful event, promoting both competitive play and community engagement through basketball.
