NATIONAL Weather Service-Guam warning coordination meteorologist Marcus Landon Aydlett said he is tracking Invest 96W, a tropical disturbance southeast of Guam, as it moves northwest through the Marianas and north of Yap State Tuesday and into Wednesday.

“This will generate showers, thunderstorms, and locally heavy rainfall with gusty winds over the Marianas as it passes by, with improved weather expected by Thursday,” Aydlett said.

He added, “Significant development or formation into a tropical depression, if it occurs, will happen after the system passes the islands, likely in the open waters of the Philippine Sea.”

Aydlett recommends that residents stay updated with the latest forecasts and conditions on the NWS-Guam website at weather.gov/gum/, where full forecast bulletins and additional information are available.

“Stay tuned, as conditions can change rapidly during the wet season,” he added.
