Low-flying military aircraft over Saipan on Friday, Oct. 24

(Press Release) — The Office of the Governor and Lieutenant Governor is informing the public that today, Friday, Oct. 24, 2025, residents may observe up to eight fighter jets and one support aircraft conducting a low approach over the Saipan international airport between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

This activity is part of a scheduled overwater training operation coordinated by the Joint Region Marianas and Joint Task Force – Micronesia. The aircraft will be in full communication with Guam Air Traffic Control and the Saipan Control Tower throughout the exercise.

The Office of the Governor and Lt. Governor wishes to assure the public that there are no safety or airspace concerns associated with this operation. While the presence of military jets may be unusual and noticeable, the overflight will be brief and carefully managed.

“We appreciate the community’s understanding as our military partners conduct their routine training operations,” said Gov. David M. Apatang. “These exercises are an important part of maintaining regional readiness and safety, and we thank residents for their patience and calm during the brief flyover.”

Lt. Gov. Dennis C. Mendiola added, “There is no cause for alarm. This is a routine, coordinated training activity. We simply want to make sure the public is informed in advance.”

The Office of the Governor and Lt. Governor encourages residents to remain calm and enjoy the unique sighting, knowing that safety protocols are in place. This brief flyover serves as a reminder of the ongoing collaboration between the CNMI and the U.S. armed forces in ensuring security and stability across our region.
