THE NMI Women’s National Team fell short in their debut match at the LPK Cup 2025, bowing to TSL FC, 4–2, on Monday in Hong Kong.

Although far from home, the NMI Women’s National Team didn’t let the unfamiliar field become a disadvantage, standing toe-to-toe with TSL FC for most of the match.

Throughout the first half, both teams showcased their strength and determination as they battled for possession. However, TSL FC played with greater aggression and eventually broke through with their first goal to take the lead heading into halftime.

TSL FC carried their momentum into the second half, finding the back of the net once again. But the NMI Women’s National Team immediately struck with two goals courtesy of Kaithlyn Chavez and Audrey Castro, leveling the score at 2-2.

Unfazed, TSL FC responded with two more goals to seal the deal, 4-2.

On its Facebook page, the Northern Mariana Islands Football Association Facebook stated:

“Our NMI Women’s National Team’s first match at the LPK Cup 2025 against TSL FC highlighted our team’s incredible effort and resilience while facing a strong opponent.

“The game ended with a score of 4-2 in favor of TSL FC. Our goals were the result of teamwork and build up, with Kaithlyn Chavez and Audrey Castro finishing the plays for the team beautifully. We were joined by [NMIFA] President Jerry Tan and his brother, Raymond Tan.”

The LPK Cup is held in honor and memory of Mrs. Lam Pek Kim, the beloved mother of Jerry and Raymond Tan. The tournament brings together TSL’s global women’s football teams in Hong Kong, celebrating the values of teamwork, perseverance, and community spirit.
