(SBDC) — The Rota Small Business Development Center recently completed a no-cost federal contracting training on Jan. 13 and 14, 2026, at the Northern Marianas College Rota Center Computer Lab. The training provided local businesses with practical guidance on federal contracting requirements and preparation for government procurement opportunities.
Participants received hands-on support with SAM.gov registration, compliance requirements, and common challenges businesses face when pursuing federal contracts. The training was conducted in partnership with military contracting professionals and was designed to help businesses become procurement-ready and better positioned for upcoming opportunities.
“This training reflects the importance of working closely with our military partners to support local businesses,” said Charlene Manglona Ogo, director and business advisor of the CNMI SBDC Rota Center. “By helping our clients become procurement-ready, we are creating pathways for them to participate more confidently in federal contracting and preparing them for continued discussions at our upcoming Rota Industry Day.”
The sessions were led by SSgt. Derick Fontyn and SSgt. Holley Bruske, who shared insights into the federal procurement process and provided one-on-one technical assistance to participants.
Attendees expressed appreciation for the practical support offered during the training. “This session helped clarify the federal contracting process and gave me a better understanding of what is required to move forward,” said Jennifer Yalung, a local business owner. “The guidance we received was very helpful and informative.”
The CNMI SBDC Network continues to support entrepreneurs and small businesses throughout the Commonwealth by offering free one-on-one advising, training workshops, and technical assistance. Through continued partnerships and community engagement, the Rota SBDC remains committed to strengthening the local business environment,
