(NMC) — Northern Marianas College is reminding all students that classes will remain on the As Terlaje campus when the Spring 2026 term starts on Tuesday, Jan. 20. The college is also extending the add/drop period until Jan. 30, which will give returning/admitted students more time to register for classes.
In November 2025, the college announced that classes would be relocated off-site to make way for continuing construction of new facilities and ensure student and employee safety during that construction period. However, based on feedback from students and some changes to the campus construction schedule, the college leadership determined that in-person classes could remain on campus, at least up until the start of Spring Break after March 17.
The return to the As Terlaje campus also means that some courses will be rescheduled to take place throughout the day, instead of only after 5 p.m. as previously announced. Students are encouraged to check their Portal+ accounts for any updates.
Given these changes, the college has also decided to extend the add/drop window for classes by two weeks to allow returning/admitted students more time to work with their advisors and instructors to adjust to the changes.
Advisors and instructors will work closely with students on changes that affect their respective schedules. Students are also encouraged to proactively stay in close contact with their advisors and instructors for changes in class schedules and other developments.
In announcing the decision, NMC President Galvin Deleon Guerrero EdD, stated, “While this change in plans will present some challenges, we are confident that this is the best course of action to meet the needs of our students, maximize our limited resources, and maintain a unified college experience.” He added, “As we have learned in our collective experience, our resilience has been powered by our flexibility to adapt to changes–our willingness to adjust course as needed.”
NMC’s Spring 2026 semester will begin on Jan. 20, 2026. A list of the classes that are offered can be found at www.marianas.edu/.
